Alison Aylmer-Kelly - Founder & Partner

Alison started her career at Grant Thornton where she worked for 10 years gaining extensive accountancy and audit experience. She also spent six months working in the firm's insolvency division in the early 1990's.
Alison then moved to Moore Stephens for four years where she managed a portfolio of partnership, sole trader and limited company clients. In addition to providing accountancy and audit services, Alison prepared both self assessment and corporation tax returns, performed tax calculations and dealt with all correspondence with the HMRC on tax compliance matters.
Alison joined Robson Taylor in 1998 and progressed to Senior Corporate Manager, heading up the Corporate Services Division. Working on a portfolio of approximately 90 clients of varying sectors and size, Alison prepared management and statutory accounts, forecasts and budgets, conducted and managed audit work, prepared due diligence reports and assisted with funding requirements. Alison also stood in as temporary Financial Manager for a client, assisting the directors with the general running of the business, daily cash management, invoice discounting and conducting interviews for key personnel.
On becoming a partner, Alison jointly ran the firm's Bristol office, she was responsible for around 250 limited company, partnership and sole trader clients and helped both existing and new businesses in audit, accountancy and taxation matters.
James Aylmer-Kelly - IT Partner

James started his career at Westinghouse, Chippenham where he trained as an engineering apprentice gaining the Engineering Training Parts 1 & 2 certificates issued by the Engineering Training Authority. James then became a production controller for a range of high power semiconductors. It was during this time that he realised his flair for computers and IT so he moved into the role of Systems Administrator.
After a while James decided to move into the professional services industry and took a similar position at a firm of chartered accountants. He then progressed to the position of IT Consultant servicing external clients. This included supporting hardware and software on site and remotely, purchasing and installing new systems, project management and producing reports for the justification of new hardware or software. James then became the internal IT Manager for the practice responsible for systems across their three offices.
From here James decided to take a short sabbatical before setting up his own business offering IT support and services to small and medium sized business who did not have their own IT resources. After a period of time running this business James was offered the position of IT Manager for a financial services company that had recently been purchased by a bank. James decided to take up the challenge managing all hardware, infrastructure and applications taking the company’s IT systems forward from a minimal setup to a high level of HP rack mounted servers, Cisco network and security systems.
James brings to the practice over ten years of IT knowledge including significant knowledge of Internet connectivity, structured cabling, Rack mounted HP servers, storage and backup systems, telecommunications, anti-virus security and Microsoft technologies. In his spare time James enjoys walking, cycling and running. To raise money for charity he has completed climbing Kilimanjaro in Africa and has completed both the Bath half marathon and the Bath to London 100 mile cycle ride over 5 times.
